I hope they have more safety measures in place than BP did.

Its there waters. Let them drill until they have a leak that effects us. Then we will make them pay.

I tend to agree with MAC48. We need to drill or we will loose.

Chinese well drilling ships in waters this close to us. That can't be a good idea.

And we sit idly by twiddling our thumbs while Cuba with Chinese assistance taps into the oil & natural gas reservoirs between Florida & Cuba. It will not be long before the Cuban wells engage in slant drilling taking oil from reserves lying in US waters.
We do not drill in this area because the Florida tourism & sport fishing interest vehemently oppose exploration for & production of oil & natural gas in this area due to the fear that such production might mess up their businesses.
These are the same Florida business interest that refused to go with light blackouts during the early months & years of WWII because it would hurt their tourism business. It did not matter to them that their well lighted towns, cities & resorts silhouetted passing US ships making them easy targets for German U-boats.
To heck with the Florida tourism business interest & Governor Charlie Crist. Start exploring for & eventual production of the oil & natural gas reserves in US waters between Florida & Cuba. IF we do not, the Cubans will and we will produce the oil & natural gas in a much more environmentally sound manner.

If it's their waters they drill in, good for them.

sounds better than the previously reported "offshore Florida". Still Chinese ships with giant equipment sailing to CUBA sounds like the experience JFK experienced. What else comes on those ships?
